A large portion of my career has been involved in the world of visual effects and animation. I worked at a number of companies and also operated my own visual effects facility for over 12 years doing commercials, TV shows and feature films. Because I have always had the heart of a teacher or mentor, I helped a number of young people get started in the film industry. Now I am fortunate to teach at The Art Institute of Phoenix where I get to work with talented and remarkable students and instructors. Because of my eclectic film industry back ground I teach in both the animation and the visual effects majors. I also share my film experience and love of matte painting through on-line forums such as StopMotionAnimation.com and MattePainting.org. I also have a blog, Stipes Universe. I also love to spend time with my son, Nathan Stipes, a former film student at The Film School @ SCC in Arizona. I was his "Producer" on projects such as the Heinz Ketchup Contest and his award winning, " PI Blues" I am also a Reiki III practitioner, and I do a unique intuitive-art counseling service called 'Life Seals' and intuitive readings through Logos Center Church in Scottsdale, AZ.
